CITMAR emerged from the strategic planning prepared by the Board of Tourism Secretaries of the Association of Municipalities of the Itaja\u00ed River Mouth Region (AMFRI). On August 17, 2007, the mayors of the municipalities in the region signed the Protocol of Intentions to form the consortium. CITMAR&#039;s main goal is to provide specialized services in planning, development and promotion of tourism, in addition to implementing improvements in the regional tourism infrastructure.
